In the spring a young man's fancy turns to thoughts of .. well many things, I suppose, including cricket—if my correspondence is anything to judge by. Even before the clocks were changed last weekend to herald the spring, George Hughes of Willowbrook was reported to be involved in the gentleman's game. This week comes the news that Fiat— England, of course—is to sponsor England's oldest cricket league.
Through its Midland dealers Fiat is sponsoring the Birmingham and District Cricket League. The company is to make cashs grants for ground improvements and there are £1,000 prizes for the winners and runners-up in the first and second divisions. Where will it all stop ? Well, what about the Fiat " Brummies "taking on a Turin eleven ? That should make for a pleasant day in the Italian sun after another wet British summer.
