something in the region of 600 drivers or more, Clipper Logistics Group has a sizeable task on its hands to arrange suitable training while keeping day-to-day business flowing. But Anderson is convinced the Driver CPC is a step in the right direction.
"I think it's a great idea," she says. "It will do the haulage industry good. People need to understand that however professional a driver is, they need to be recognised as such.
"The more refresher training we have, the better it is for the industry. We sometimes test drivers on the Highway Code and the majority of those who fail are the ones who have been in the industry a long time and don't think they have a problem, and that's really worrying."
The company is in the early stages of talking to training providers about how to build a training programme that not only fits around its business needs but will also meet with official approval.
