Half of the MV Commercial rental fleet consists of rigids with box, curtainsider and flatbed bodies, with the rest made up from tractors, temperature-controlled vehicles and its burgeoning truck-crane business, which has grown 200% in the past two years.
Shaw says MV Commercial underwrites its own assets and is willing to sell stock to its customers – if that is what they wish to do.
He intends to replace 300 of the 750-strong fleet within the next two years, and is on the verge of striking two major deals with manufacturers. “We have a lot of 07 to 59-plate vehicles and some 06-plate as well. We are going to have to fleet manage our way out of 40% of the fleet,” he says.
