II Operators called to public inquiry who fail to turn up face losing their licences and fines equivalent to the cost of the inquiry, according to Scottish Traffic Commissioner Michael Betts.
Perthshire operator James M Duncan failed to attend an Edinburgh disciplinary inquiry. The LA revoked his licence but also ordered that he pay the costs of the inquiry, amounting to £100.
Duncan, of Bridgend Garage, Kinloch Rannoch, held a licence authorising the operation of four vehicles.
He had previously failed to attend a disciplinary inquiry in Dundee at the end of July. Betts adjourned the proceedings on that occasion in order to give Duncan a further opportunity of appearing before him to show cause why disciplinary action should not he taken against his licence.
However, he failed again to put in an appearance.
In revoking the licence with immediate effect, Betts said Duncan had failed to provide any explanation for his nonappearance on this occasion. Consequently he was also proposing making an order that Duncan pay the costs incurred in relation to the present public inquiry—L100.
