• A new public weighbridge has been opened by R. J. Seaman and Sons, the Norfolkbased agricultural merchants at their Swaffham granary and store. It has been primarily installed to handle increasing demands for the company's seed grain but the facilities will also be available to other transport using the area.
Built at a cost of around £5,000, the weighbridge is 45ft long and has a gross capacity of 40 tons, It has turning space to take the largest lorries.
The weighbridge, manufactured and installed by Ashworth Ross and Co. Ltd. in conjunction with Horace Mack Ltd„ of Dereham, was completed in a total of 10 weeks.
