area chairman of the Road Haulage Association, told the York sub-area dinner at Harrogate on Friday that it was a waste of this country's money to insist on log sheets for C-licence vehicles, because they were unnecessary for vehicles tin to 30 cwt.
Mr. Bridge was replying to a query by Aid. R. Scruton, of York, leader of the Conservative group on the city council. Aid. Scruton speculated why the butcher, the baker and the laundry man had to keep log sheets. He could see no justification.
While agreeing with Aid. Scruton. Mr. Bridge said he was, however, concerned with those people who used C licences for illegal purposes. Even farmers, on occasion, did this.
