THERE may be disagreements among members of the Government on various matters but they appear to be united at least on the subject of Japanese competition in the heavy vehicle industry. J.H.V. Bradley, marketing manager, voiced Seddon Atkinson's deep concern in a letter to a dozen local MPs, to general secretaries of trade unions representing the company's workers and to John Nott, Secretary of State for Trade.
The MPs raised the matter with Mrs Margaret Thatcher, Sir Keith Joseph, Lord Trenchard and others. In identical worc obviously drafted by a civil se vant they all replied in suitab euphemisms: Bad luck, mate!
