(or Caravelle to give its UK name) versions in order to check out the drivelines. Both were diesels—the 1,9-litre with 103hp and the 2.5-litre producing 129hp.
With a host of optional extras fitted, the people carrier version is a lot more luxurious than the van will be. so we were careful not to be taken in by the surroundings. The
less powerful 1.9-litre with its five-speed box negotiated the steep hills and tight bends near Valencia impressively with next-to-no mileage on the clock. But when we drove the same route in the more powerful 2.5-litre version, we soon noticed the difference. The drive felt much more controlled.
Having sampled the difference in performance, we would certainly recommend the more powerful option. First impressions of the 15's dynamics wore impressive but as these vehicles were still 'pre-production', we look forward to trying the real thing shortly.
