MARION OLIVER, a partner in Hexham-based William Martin Oliver & Partners, collapsed last week during the first day of a retrial for falsifying tachograph charts.
The three partners — Marion, her husband William and son Stuart —all denied conspiring to falsify tacho charts in a case brought by the Vehicle Inspectorate division of VOSA at Newcastle upon Tyne Crown Court Following an eight-week trial last June the jury failed to reach a verdict ( CM 17 June) In July 2002 10 of the firm's drivers were jailed for two months after admitting falsifying tacho graph records and a further 15 were ordered to do community service of 100-240 hours after being sent to the Crown Court for sentence. Seven other drivers were fined a total of £4,850 by the magistrates for similar offences.
