Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I WRITE IN reply to Ray Sal’tiel’s query of who I am, and whether I even operate trucks (Letters CM 13 January) following my own letter stating my belief that Senior Trafic Commissioner Philip Brown was too lenient in giving an O-licence to a haulier with a history of bad maintenance (Letters CM 23 December 2010).

I am not a ‘hands-on haulier’ but neither is Ray. I do, however, have hands-on experience with trucks. Ray states that he is a consultant, so he is a person that advises people and charges them for opinions, that may or might not beneit a client. He also says he has an English degree and is an engineer.

I, on the other hand, am a former site driver, who also has a legal qualiication. I have also worked on CVs that were the property of the government.

As for Ray attending Public Inquiries, that is surely part of the service you offer. With all his qualiications, I would have thought that he would have been a ‘hands-on haulier’. Instead, he opted to take the route of taking money from cash-strapped hauliers.

I trust the above response satisies Mr Sal’tiel’s curiosity of who I am.
