• A new tandem axle platform semitrailer designed to match up with the latest quantity-produced two-axle tractive units to form a 26 tons gross combination, has been introduced by York Trailer Co. Ltd., Corby, Northants. With models such as the BMC Mastiff, Ford D1000 and Bedford KM, the new trailer—the SL.26—will give a payload capacity of nearly 18 tons, within a 26-ton limit; the SL.26 weighs only 3 tons 6cwt unladen and the first production model, with its Mastiff tractor unit, had an unladen kerb weight of 8 tons 'cwt.
As a 26 tons gross unit, the SL.26 has single, centre-nave wheels with 10.00-20 tyres. It can, however be uprated to 28 tons

Lengths from 2611 to 3411 are offered, each having the centreline of the 4ft 4.5in. wheelbase bogie 5ft from the rear: the kingpin is 2ft 6in. from the front end.
List price is £1,271 for the 26 tons gross 26ft-long version. The 28-ton design costs £139 more.
