last words • • • BUS SERVICES should try to cover their costs and not rely so much on revenue support, Mr Fred Mulley told the Institution of Municipal Engineers before leaving the DoE.
He said: "I believe very strongly that there is a danger that revenue support of local bus operations has been and is getting out of control; and that it is in the interest of the economy—and indeed of the long-term future of the bus industry—that revenue from bus operations should increas ingly cover costs."

2. Pursuing national poE objectives.
3. Encourage cornprehens transport planning.
4. To ensure that local tra port receives its fair sh of the limited resour available.
