Preston-based Carefoot of Preston has taken delivery of 14 MAN TG-A 26.413 6x2 tractors which it will run at 44 tonnes GCW. They were bought outright with a three-year fully-inclusive MAN Triple A R&M contract and are expected to cover around 160,000km a year. This expands the Carefoot fleet to 38 units.
PEUGEUT ORDER
Peugeot has won an order to supply 200 vans to UK construction services group Balfour Beatty, which has ordered 100 Partner and 100 Expert vans for sites distributed around the UK. The van fleet will be supplied by Peugeot's Derby dealership, Pavilion Motors.
GREEN FLEET
The 2002 TransportAction CleanUp Green Fleet Award has been won by retailer John Lewis Partnership for its fleet of low-emission Dafs.
The firm won the award after fitting 60 particulate traps to its vehicles over the past 12 months, including Oaf LF 7.5-tonners and CF75 tractive units.
STREET WISE
Birtley-based LDV dealer Chatfields Tyne Tees has won an order from the City of Sunderland Council for 16 LDV Convoy 3.5-tonne longwheelbase tippers. The Convoys, some fitted with bin hoists, will be used primarily for street cleaning and emptying wheeled bins in areas inaccessible to standard refuse collection vehicles.
