Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The annual general meeting of the Bristol Tramways and Carriage Co., Ltd., was held in Bristol a few days ago, when Mr. W. G. Verdon Smith, C.R.E., the managing director, occupied the chair. The chairman pointed out that the total revenue of the compaey for the past year was the highest yet recorded, this being in spite of the fact that the receipts of the tramways department were slightly less than those for the previous year. The returns of the carriage department, which exceeded those of the tramways department by more than £70,000, showed an increase of 111,146.

The carriage department returns include the profit derived from the manufacturing business maintained by the company. The chairman referred to the fact that the latest types of Bristol bus are giving much satisfaction to users in different parts of the country.

There was a considerable expansion in the extent of the services provided and the mileage run. It is interesting to note that, during the year, the conversion of the existing solid-tyre vehicles of the fleet to pneumatic equipment was completed. The outlay involved has been very heavy and it is too soon for the company to state definitely whether pneumatics possess advantages, from the paint of view of running costs, over solid tyres.

The machine is fitted with a 25 h.p. Diesel valveless engine, which is designed to run on crude oil. It is supplied either with wheels or as a track-laying machine.
