Transport Clearing Houses has, like the R.H.A., decided not to recommend a rates increase at present. The Conference has been considering the question of rates in the light of wage increases, higher insurance premiums and the like, and although it is not now recommending that haulage rates should be increased, it
has pointed out that the pressure of -mounting costs "will have its inevitable effect unless countervailing alleviations can be found ".
The Conference has appealed to traders to help the road transport industry to achieve operating economies by cutting down waiting time and giving vehicles a quicker turn-round.
