Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A r Bromley. Kent, last week. I-1.Beckenham B-o rough Council pleaded guilty to permitting a vehicle to be on the road, the steering and braking mechanisms of which were faulty. The police found that there was 80 degrees play in the steering wheel and the pull-and-push rod, king pins and spring shackles were all badly worn. In addition the hand brake would not hold the vehicle.

For the council it was said that the van was used in two parks in the borough, and on this occasion it was being used on the road in an emergency.

The council was fined £3 on each summons and the driver it on each Summons.

A LAW THAT SHOULD BE SCRAPPED

ATAXI owner in Avonmouth recently had his taxi confiscated by the Cuitorns because he carried a passenger whose luggage contained 95 lb. of uncustomed tobacco. Whilst, no doubt, the vehicle will be returned, it is surely time that a law dating back to smuggling days was repealed.
