• Intercare, the Lincolnbased aftermarket distributor, is set to attack the 250 million airbrakes aftermarket with its new operation in Lincoln. It will cover remanufactured British and Continental equipment, supported by a specialised service for Bosch and Magneti Marelli components.
General manager Mike Waters says: "We see ourselves as offering a total air brake service, rather than just a supplier of remanufactured parts. That is why we are increasingly developing our own range of manufactured parts wherever re-manufacture is not cost effective — for example, the Intercare automatic drain valve and a double diaphragm brake chamber."
Investment in new equipment has meant that Intercare is now able to improve salvage techniques, already resulting in the remanufacture of compressors on a flow-line basis.
"A new baked powder epoxy coating is also being used, inside and out, to provide greater resistance to corrosion and a super smooth surface for piston sealing," says Waters.
