The Rapid Total Weight Calculator is the name of a small substantially bound book, published by Messrs. Gall and Inglis, 12, Newington Road, Edinburgh (price is. 6d.), which should prove of great value to those who are constantly called upon to estimate the weights of loads and so forth.
The method adopted is to give totals for numbers of units of the same weight. For example, on page 40, the
weights of 17-lb. units are dealt with, the total weights of groups containing from one to 1,000 units being given. There are 68 tables, of which the first is devoted to *-lb. objects and the last to articles weighing 1 cwt. each. Thus the actual weights of all loads up to 50 tons can quickly be reckoned, if the weights of the units comprising them. be known. The book can conveniently be carried in the pocket.
