• The Road Haulage Association has moved quickly to allay fears that this year's TipCon show has become a casualty of the industry's clamour for a single truck show. Despite the withdrawal of Scania and Eclbro from this year's tipper show, and the deliberation by Foden over its appearance, the R HA says TipCon is not dead. "It will have a reduced number of exhibitors," says a spokesman. "Many manufacturers are concerned about costs, but this show is a niche show. It will survive."
However, the RHA is still in discussion with the IRTE and the SMMT over whether a new "super" truck show will be created to replace the individual IRTE, SMMT and Tipcon shows (CM 29 Oct-4 Noy).
) This year's Tipcon show will be held at Manchester's G-Mex site from 23:
25 April.
