IT IS a shame that the archive picture illustrating Ian Norwell's feature 'Under starter's orders...' (CM 14 January) didn't carry an acknowledging caption.
The image was from the 1957 .1 Arthur Rank film called Hell Drivers, in which Tom Yately (played by Stanley Baker, below), standing in front of the line-up of 'Kew' Dodges, was the fleet's newly-recruited 'good guy: He would have met today's CPC and safety requirements more readily than his heavy-footed colleagues, notably the most reckless of the bunch, played by Patrick McGoohan, later of The Prisoner series fame, who came to a well-deserved and sticky end.
