• A further shake-up of the operations of its subsidiary companies in South Wales was announced this week by the National Bus Company. Together with proposals already announced it will establish two groupings for operational purposes in the region: South Wales Transport (United Welsh, Thomas Bros, Neath and Cardiff Luxury Coaches) and Western Welsh (Rhondda, Red and White, Jones Group).
This week's announcement involves the introduction of joint management for Western Welsh, Red and White and Jones Omnibus Services. With effect from August 1 Mr K. Holmes, general manager of Western Welsh, takes over in a similar capacity at Red and White and Jones Services. Mr G. Major, present general manager of those companies, will continue in an advisory capacity until his retirement in September.
These changes follow the announcement of the transfer of Western Welsh operations at Neath and Haverfordwest to South Wales Transport and at New Quay and Newcastle Emlyn to Crosville.
