• Paint manufacturer Masons has registered more than 100 paintshops in its Protection Plus scheme and has made a 400% increase in paint specifications, says marketing director Leigh Dorling.
Lie refutes rumours that it might not be able to supply EPA compliant paint after 1998. Masons, part of the £100m McLoud Russel group, produces its resin in-house and has its own resin development engineers.
Trials are underway on a water-based single pack and work is con. tinning on a two-pack. A two-pack which meets the regulations up to 1998 is about to join the single pack which is already on the market.
Investment in auto mation at the Derby plant will soon allow colour-mixed twopacks to be delivered next day: as is the case with the single pack.
By delivering paints directly to paintshops, Dorling says Masons can keep the price of its paint below that of the competition.
