By Laura Hailstone COCA-COLA Enterprises (CCE) is investing £1.75m in 13 biomethane trucks, following a successful year-long trial of one, which produced a carbon reduction of 50%, compared to a traditional diesel vehicle.
Surprised by the high level of carbon saving, CCE plans to introduce the biomethane Ivecos to its direct-to-store London operation next year.
Wendy Manning, CCE customer logistics director, says: “Reducing the carbon used by our own vehicle leet and by our third party hauliers is a key objective for CCE. ” The investment also includes the necessary refuelling infrastructure to operate the Iveco Stralis 26-tonne rigids.
