LĀ°ADM lorries and trailers can be 1-4transported from Preston, Lancashire, to Northern Ireland by s.s. "Empire Cedric" (4,000 tons), which has been specially designed for the conveyance of vehicles and inaugurated is new regular service on May 20. It can carry 80 commercial vehicles or 175 private cars, and has accommodation for their drivers.
Vehicles are driven on and off the ship by means of the bow door ramp. and at Preston a new terminal has been constructed from ex-Mulberry equipment. Plans are already being made to augment the service with additional vessels.
The ship is owned by the Continental Line and managed by Frank Bustard and Sons, Ltd., Craig's Court House, Craig's Court, 25, Whitehall, London, S.W. .
COMMON FORMUL/E FOR EXPORT PAINT
Al the annual luncheon of the Paint Manufacturers and Allied Trades Association held in London yesterday, a scheme to increase the exports of British paint was announced. Under this plan 150 members of the Association will manufacture paints using common formulw, standard colours and packing, and selling through a new co-operative marketing organization known as Associated British Paints.
