ROAD safety has been a prominent consideration in the design of 62 Dennis" Pax vehicles which are being supplied to the Gas Light and Coke Co. Head lamps are not fitted because delivery work is carried out chiefly in towns, and the Gas Light and Coke Co. considers that a properly adjusted fog lamp provides adequate illumination.
A small window is let into the nearside door panel to give the driver a view of the kerh and enable him to see shildren playing around the wheels when the vehicle is stationary. To ensure that the cab doors remain in any required position, they are fitted with friction quadrant 'devices designed by the Gas Light and Coke Co. Their value is particularly pronounced when reversing.
To facilitate maintenance and routine inspection, the chassis and wheels are finished in bright aluminium paint. This A32 ensures that vehicles are thoroughly washed. because dirt is easily visible on the bright parts.
The vehicles are designed for the 'transport of coke in 75 1-cwt. sacks. A protective rail behind the cab is carried forward and enables 25 sacks to be accommodated above cab roof level. A special box for scales is mounted beneath the platform on the near side,
