the RHA or not) and members of the Press will be allowed to attend next Friday's mass meeting of Mendip quarry hauliers at Coleford, Somerset, when reports of various quarry committees and replies and reactions of quarry owners will he considered and action decided.
In a Press statement issued on Friday, the RHAL Western area secretary, Mr. J. F. Cox, stated that the replies received from the quarrymasters who had previously been supplied with a suggested rates schedule by the hauliers (" The Commercial Motor ", May 14) were, with only one or two exceptions, unsatisfactory and that the increases on existing rates offered lige negligible.
Further letters have now been sent to the quarries by the committee in an endeavour to secure higher rates, and "The Commercial Motor" understands that suggested conditions have been put to the quarry owners regarding speedier payment for work carried out and the deductions that are being made by certain quarries.
