managing director and he became managing director in February 2001. He was appointed to the board in June 2001 However, before rising to the top of the port sector, he was managing director of intermodal operator Geest North Sea Line.
"He trained as an architect. But, similar to now, when I trained, the construction industry was going through a slump and I went into shipping and transport. That is where I came across Glyn Davies," he says, name-dropping one of the former giants of road transport operations.
Davies, who sold Hanbury Davies to Wincanton in January last year for a reported £25m, was an important touchstone for Glading, developing an understanding between the port-side and the road-side of dock operations.
