BRITISH diesel oil prices have risen by 120 per cent over the period of December 1978 to November of this year, according to a survey carried out by International Road Transport Union.
The price per gallon has gone from 76-78p up to £1.62-1.72.
France is one of the least hit ol the Common Market countries with an increase of just 88 per cent, with Italy and Portugal prices both having risen 150 per cent since December 1978. Spain is one of the worst hit oi the European countries, with an increase of 210 per cent.
Turkey has had the hardest time of all with a rise of 818 per cent, while East Germany, Iraq and Kuwait have kept their diesel oil prices entirely static over the past two years.
