The van was old, and answered to wheel and levers as an afterthought. The driver was new.
At a road junction he signalled a motorcyclist to go through by waving one arm in a semicircle. Finding he could not slow down, he waved the other arm in panic, stalled his engine and pulled up, blocking the whole fairway.
"I know who you are," said the motorcyclist pleasantly, as he passed by. "1 recognized you by your sails. You're one of the dear old windmills they've saved as curiosities."
