A Well-designed Service Vehicle with Much Useful Equipment.
THE motor coach repair shop of which exterior and interior illustrations appear on this page is a service innovation recently developed by the Service Department of the Yellow Truck and Coach Manufacturing Co., Chicago. The vehicle is completely equipped for all kinds of heavy repair work on the road or wherever its use is required, and has been placed at the service of Yellow Coach fleet owners.
The most striking feature of this travelling repair shop is the ingenuity that has been exercised in its design and the completeness with which it is equipped. Provision has been made for two electrically lighted workbenches, one on each side of the coach ; a hoisting crane for lifting chassis and engines in order to make heavy repairs; a complete acetylene welding outfit; an air compressor operated from the engine to drive an air hammer, and electrically operated drills.
In addition to having a most complete Set of wrenches and
tools, each carried in a special holder, the coach is supplied with a wide range of standard bolts, nuts and screws for repair work, Some spare parts are also carried for emergency use. A special compartment below the body provides space for the accommodation of jacks, tyre chains and other equipment. Droplights and drill connections can be connected up to a standard 110-volt circuit when the coach repair shop is being used in a garage.
The interior of the coach is heated by a hot-air manifold-type heater, so as to provide comfortable working quarters in any kind of weather. An emergency bed and two hammocks, which can be swung inside the body, make it possible for the men accompanying the coach to get adequate rest when engaged on a repair job occupying more than one day.
