THE Transport Tribunal has dismissed an appeal by Hill and Sons (Botley) Ltd., H. Webb and Sons (Marchwood) Ltd., and Demnead Ltd. (Southampton) against the B licence variation granted to T. J. Clune to operate an articulated vehicle with a semilow-loader boat trailer (COMMERCIAL MOTOR, December 15).
The Tribunal decided that evidence had shown the respondent had built up a satisfactory business in respect of boats up to 4 tons. It would be wrong if he were not to be allowed to keep in step with the change which is taking place in the boat industry by carrying larger boats.
As the appellants' interests had been safeguarded by the limitation of customers to be served, the South Eastern Licensing Authority's decision was upheld.
Mr. Clune presented his own case to the Tribunal.
