THE Department of Transport has announced that from January 1 1979 special Spanish permits known as "yellow cards" will be available from the International Road Freight Office, at Newcastle.
The fee for the yellow card (which lasts a year) is £2.50 and it is valid for one vehicle making an unlimited number of journeys. The card is required, in addition to journey permits, for goods vehicles of more than 16 tonnes laden weight and by articulated vehicles longer than 15 metres in length and road trains of more than 14 metres entering Spain.
Where vehicle and load exceed maximum dimensions allowed under the Spanish Traffic Code the Spanish "extra special" permit required will still be obtainable only from Spain.
