The truck in question, a ;cania Topline 124 tractor ielonging to award-winning 3anbury operator Coles Cransport, had been parked ip near a residential area in 4orthampton. Its driver had )een parking in this area for tbout 18 months.
After finding his truck nissing the driver informed Coles, vhich in turn contacted its tracking upplier, which pin-pointed the truck's location at Newport Pag,nel I motorway services area and immediately informed the police. However, when police officers turned up hoping to catch the thieves red-handed they realised that it was actually being held by the constabulary's recovery contractor.
Nigel Coles has been left scratching his head over the incident: "We looked for parking restrictions where it was removed from but we can't find any, so we're a bit baffled by why they took it.
"Regardless of that you'd think they would inform the operator — it's pretty obvious who it's run by — or at least tell their own colleagues!"
No one from Northamptonshire police was available for comment.
