Is. and 6s a week for certain grades of road haulage worker are proposed by the Road Haulage Wages Council. The amended 'schedules are contained in R.H. (33), and representations on them must he made by August 2.

The proposed now weekly rates and the classes to which they apply are as follows, the present scales being given in parentheses:-• Workers whose home depot is in the London area, but excluding those engaged in carrying indivisible loads and drivers of steam wagons: Drivers (all ages) of vehicles over I-ton and up to,and including, 5-ton carrying capacity, 107s., if engaged after June 8, 1932, and 108s.

Drivers (21 and over) of vehicles of 1-ton carrying capacity or less, 99s.. in Grade I areas; and 95s. in Grade II areas. Drivers (all ages) of vehicles over 1-ton and up to, and including. 5-ton carrying capacity. 102s. in Grade I areas, and 98s. in Grade H. areas. At present, drivers (all ages) of vehicles of 1-2-ton carrying capacity receive 96s. in Grade areas and 92s. in Grade II areas. In the 2-5 ton class, the Grade T rate is 102s. and the Grade H rate 98s.

Workers of 21 years of age, or employed in the furniture, warehousing and removal industry: Foremen 101s. 6d. (96s. 6d.), removal packers 98s. 6d. (93s. 6d.) and porters 96s. 6d. (91s. 6d) in Grade I areas; foremen 99s. 6d. (94s. 6d.), removal packers 96s. 6d. (91s. 6d.), and porters 94s. (88s. 6d.) in Grade It areas.

Other road haulage workers of 21 or over 98s. (93s) in Grade I areas, and 94s. (89s.) in Grade II areas. Workers employed on the carriage of indivisible loads: London: Mates on vehicles over 6 tons and up to 16 tons, 101s. (100s.), arid in Grade I and II areas 98s (97s.).
