• Teesside County Borough's transport committee has called for one common fare structure for buses, private as well as municipal, operating in the Teesside area.
The matter was raised when it was learned that United Automobile Services Ltd. was to seek a fare rise. At present municipal fares generally follow United fares with a certain degree of protection, but the fares of Teesside Rail-less Traction Board have hitherto been identical with those of United.
Mr. W. C. Wilson, Teesside transport manager, stated he had told United that the Teesside committee wished to see equal conditions on all routes served by Teesside Municipal Transport.
The committee has decided to oppose United's proposed fare increases on the grounds that the firm's fare system should conform with that of the Teesside municipal undertaking.
