• A code of practice for dealing with bus passenger complaints is to be developed by the Bus and Coach Council and the Department of Transport.
The BCC says that many passengers are confused about where to direct complaints about services, shelters, stations and various other aspects of bus operations.
"Where the problem is outside the operator's control we want to be helpful in directing them to the appropriate person," says BCC directorgeneral Veronica Palmer. The National Federation of Bus Users has also called for a wellpublicised complaints system, backed up by statutory standards of quality.
