• Yet another haulier has decided to sell up rather than continue working for unsustainable rates.
Marlyn Bradshaw, owner of Bourne, Linos-based Bradshaw Haulage, has decided to concentrate on other business activities rather than chasing work at ever decreasing rates.
On 7 April his six artics and two 7.5-tonners will be sold by auction along with trailers and other items.
Bradshaw, who used to specialise in carrying fertiliser, says the inability to find and retain good drivers coupled with poor rates has finally convinced him that enough is enough.
"Over the past two years we have lost two big customers to other firms quoting silly rates to do the work," he says. We find it very hard to get good drivers and the training required to carry fertiliser is too expensive. To be honest, I've decided it is no longer worth the hassle."
Malcolm Harrison will be handling the auction.
