ANEW 13-seat bus built to full p.s.v. specifications has been introduced by Trojan, Ltd., Purley Way, Croydon. It is based on the forward-control 25-cwt. chassis, which includes a Perkins P 3/144 oil engine (developing 41 b.h.p. at 2,400 r.p.m.) and independent front suspension.
The new model, known as the Rural Bus, has all seats facing forward. The entrance door is immediately behind the near-side front wheel and there are three large windows on each side. The centre one on both sides can be opened. The rear window is detachable as an extra emergency exit in addition to the emergency door on the off side.
Three vertical hand rails are provided and there are two interior strip lights giving a total of 48 watts. The complete vehicle in primer finish costs £1,240.
CEYLON COMPENSATION THE Ceylon Minister of Nationalized Services and Transport has recommended to his Government that compensation to former bus owners should be spread over four years. He suggests an initial payment of 25 per cent. in cash with the balance payable in Government borids carrying 3 per cent. interest. The former bus owners claimed £2,873,175 compensation, but the Tribunal which considered the claims deducted £1,731,675 for tax and back pay to employees leaving the balance of £1.141,500 for the operators.
