hould I change my driving style now that ve started pulling tankers? The liquid n't hazardous, so it shouldn't make much ifference should it?
iould moves around in a way that no [her load does and this can affect the :abllity of the vehicle.
Modern tankers are fitted with baffle lates inside the tank compartment • hich help to minimise the movement of ic IldUlds and reduce the wave effect. ut even wth baffle plates fitted, the )ovement of the liquid can push the hcle forward under braking so it is nportant to apply a steady pressure to le brake pedal and not relax it until the Dhicle has stopped.
Sudden changes of direction can also lake the vehicle very unstable when le load is able to move. This makes le vehicle particularly unstable when prnering and opens up the possibility of rollover.
Trying to maintain a steady approach to riving as well as braking should minimise le risks.
