RENAULT TRUCKS has seen its market share increase from 4% to 8.4% over the last four years.
Nigel Butler, commercial director at Renault Trucks, says one of the reasons for the increase has been its decision to improve its network strength. At the heart of this has been a move to fewer investors operating more key sites. He gives the example of Thompsons Commercials (Hull), which has moved from one to seven sites in the last few years. Butler cites improved levels of customer service too, such as higher first pick parts rates and quicker responses to breakdowns.
“Of course the product has a lot to do with it too,” he explains, “and our decision to concentrate on the high volume sectors.” Renault Trucks has 65 service points, 25 of which sell vehicles.
They are operated by 12 independent businesses.
