THE National Road Transport Conference organized by the Commercial Motor Users Association, 50, Pall Mall, London, S.W.1, will be held in Southport from September 21-25 inclusive. It will be open to all who are interested in the operation of commercial-motor vehicles, and the C.M.U.A. extends a cordial invitation to them to attend and to participate in the business sessions and social functions.
All delegates must be registered. whether they be members of the C.M.U.A. or otherwise, andaregistration fee of 2s. 6d. must accompany
each application in respect of a male delegate. The headquarters will be at the Prince of Wales Hotel, Southport.
The programme will be as follows :—
Sessions:—Tuesday, September 24, 10 a.m.; subject: " Steps that have been taken to solve the transport problems of the country "; 2.30 p.m., subject: " The control o traffic in towns and the open country." Wednesday, September 25, 10 a.m., subject: " What amendments are necessary to legislation affecting goods vehicles and public-service vehicles? "; 2.30 p.m., subject: "Rationalization of distributive road transport." Social Arrangements: — Saturday, September 21, 8 p.m., dance: Sunday, September 22, golf tournament; Monday, September 23, 11.30 a.m., visit to works of Leyland Motors, Ltd., Leyland; 7.30 p.m., civic reception and dinner dance as guests of the Mayor and Corporation of Southport and the North Western Division of the C. M . I J . A. Tuesday. September 24, 7.30 p.m., reception by the President of the C.M.U.A., Major R. A. B. Smith, MC., and official banquet; Wednesdaly, September 25, 8.30 p.m, social evening at the Floral Hall as guests of the Southport Corporation.
