The Committee of Solid Tire Manufacturers had a largely-attended -meeting at 157, Gt. Portland Street, W., on Wednesday, 3rd November last, when a. number of important matters were dealt with.
Uniform List Prices.
A schedule of list prices for all-sizes which had been in course of preparation for some time was finally adopted, and arrangements made for its issue by all makers as from 1st January next. The adoption of this tinifoam list4will, it is hoped, prove of considerable advantage to all purchasers and users.
Schedule of Charges for Work in Connection With the Removal wid Fittingof Solid Tires.
The Committee haelor some time been in communication with the various press-owners-throughout the country, and it has now succeeded in preparing a very complete list of press-owners who have agreed to adopt a uniform rate of charge of :- 2s. 6d. per tire for pressing on ; _ 2s. 6d. per tire for pressing off.
A schedule of approximate charges for other work in connection with the fitting of solid tires has also been B48
prepared, and the whole will be printed in convenient form and issued -to all users.
Non-skid Devices.
It was unanimously agreed that the fitting of any non-skid device upon solid tires should be held to invalidate any mileage .guarantee which may have been given with such tires.
Standard Size.
It was reported that although nearly all chassis makers had now adopted exclusively British standard wheel-diameters, in some few instances non-standard sizes were. still being issued, and it wa-s decided to call the attention of the chasns makers concerned to this matter, and press upon them the desirability of immediately adopting standard wheel-dimensions.
Overloaded Tires.
A case Was reported of a 'chassis-maker continuing to fit tires of a section smaller for the load than that provided for -in the schedule incorporated in the standard form of guarantee. It was agreed that, whilst under-tiring by chassis-makers is now happily very greatly diminished, the firm in question should be communicated with on this matter.
