I-1 A PLAN to build a " deck " over the River Clyde which would have a bus terminal, car park, shopping centre, and perhaps a heliport, was submitted to the Glasgow Corporation Highways Committee last week. The proposal is to build a deck over the river between Glasgow Bridge and Victoria Bridge. The bus station would have six platforms which would accommodate 204 Corporation and Scottish Omnibuses Group buses, which at present use stations in the city. There would be space for another 136 vehicles if required. The proposed " deck " would be constructed of reinforced concrete supported by piles, would cover an area of 700,000 sq. ft., and weigh about 100,000 tons. The estimated cost of the scheme is £5,250,000. A special sub-committee of the Highways Committee has been appointed to examine the project in detail.
