answer to two points: Is it permissible to carry goods on a Contract A licence for another removal or haulage contractor? Is there a simple leaflet describing licensing procedure?
) A Because the Transport Bill now going through Parliament proposes to change radically the licensing procedure. it is not possible to state what will be the long-term prospects for entering haulage. But in the short term the present licensing system will continue to apply and the present procedure in applying for carriers' licences is briefly set out in the official leaflet G5/7 obtainable from your local Licensing Authority.
Under the present licensing system it is not possible to obtain a Contract A licence when the customer himself is engaged in the carrying, or arranging for carrying, of goods. But as already indicated, if the Bill becomes law largely in its present form then the whole system of A. B and C licences will be abolished so that your query regarding Contract A licences would not then arise.
