Judging from the number of my friends and acquaintances who will admit, when pressed, that they listen to schools broadcasts and watch some of the better TV for children, BBC/ITV could well rethink its programme planning for adults.
Certainly there was material to interest "us" on Radio 4's school broadcast on Thursday of last week, because it was recorded at Leyland Motors. The manager of LMC's overseas companies division, Claude Riley, talked about their activities abroad, while other folk spoke about careers in the motor industry and vehicle testing.
All very interesting and worth while. I just wish we could get as much and as frequent interest taken in the operating side of road transport by broadcasters and careers people. One often hears about the producing of vehicles, seldom about how they are used.
