• Group 4 Nightspeed, express parcels carrier, has won back a £400,000 contract for next-day delivery of 1,800 product lines for GBC (United Kingdom), manufacturer of document presentation equipment and supplies. The contract was lost For a year.
• Merlin Distribution has a new five-year deal worth more than £25m from Electrolux.
Merlin will distribute Electrolux, Zanussi, Tricity Bendix and Parkinson Cowan brands throughout the UK. Operations involve primary and secondary trunking and secondary distribution from Spennymoor arid Milton Keynes, and a trans-shipment and consolidation warehouse in Le Havre.
• J Sainsbury has awarded a year's contract, worth £1.5m, to P&O Roadtanks to collect and deliver motor fuel to filling stations at .1 Sainsbury sites around East Midlands, The North, North Wales and Scotland. The lightweight Leyland Daf 75.300 tractors, hauling Thomson Carmichael 5000 Series tank semi-trailers will be managed from P&O's Stallingborough depot.
• Wincanton has won a contract to service Iceland's food retail stores from its Luton depot. It has also renewed contracts with Tesco from warehouses in Manchester and Doncaster.
• Carnforth-based Distribution Management UK has won a three-year, £3m contract from Scotts, maker of brands such as Andrex. The trunking and distribution operation will move around 3m cases a year using 25 dedicated trucks.
• TNT Premier Distribution is to handle nationwide distribution for Bryant & May,
