UNDER the main heading, "Transport," written answers to Parliamentary questions in Hansard dealt with wheel clamps, lead pollution, motorway signs (service stations) and prisoners' correspondence.
It is heartening to know that naughty drivers imprisoned in clamped vehicles will, in the Home Secretary's words, "be allowed much greater freedom in their choice of correspondents." Moreover, they will not have to mince words because "prohibitions on improper language, begging letters, objectionable reference to people in public life ]such as clamp-locking policemen] attempts to stimulate public agitation and petition ... have been abolished."
I am not sure whether rude messages written on steamy windows or muddy bodywork are covered by this exemption.
