SOME OF the biggest haulage names in the South West are to get together again next month to tackle the driver shortage affecting the region.
It follows a successful roundtable event in Southampton last November, hosted by Meachers Global Logistics.
The event saw 14 day-to-day rivals unite for a discussion about the dearth of younger drivers entering the industry.
Those attending included representatives from Steve Porter Transport, Tesco,Wyvern Cargo and Lambert Brothers, as well as local colleges and the Road Haulage Association. Key concerns included the image of driving as a job, insurance costs for younger drivers, and confusion over the funding available.
• CM will run a full report on November's event later this month.
