Boalloy's growth and acquisition by the powerful Craven Tasker outfit are landmarks in the postwar history of British bodybuilding. The company's success owes much to Gerald Broadbent, one of the joint managing directors, who appears to be able to find an ingenious solution to almost any operator's body design problems. He is everywhere in the office and in the works at the same time carrying the workers with him with the exuberance that he has put into the hazar dous sport of soapbox racing.
Boalloy has certainly done much for Congleton which when a colleague soldiered there for a time during the war was a seedy run-down town whose fortunes had been lost in the 'fustian trade, but it's now a thriving centre of light industry.
