• At Bingley last week Gath Bros (Coopers) Ltd of Hird Street, Shipley was fined £80 on eight charges connected with records. The firm pleaded guilty to failing to keep records of hours worked, to failing to make entries in the record book, to four summonses of failing to enter drivers' record book serial numbers on a record sheet; to failing to maintain a register of drivers' record books and permitting a driver to exceed 11 hours on duty.
One of the firm's drivers, John Stewart Wyatt was fined £15 after pleading guilty to failing to enter information on records; failing to keep current records and driving a goods vehicle in excess of 11 hours.
The court was told that a traffic examiner had stopped a lorry driven by Wyatt and his record book was blank where a driver should have put his name and address. It was stated that the firm had now introduced a new system for records and drivers' sheets.
